Microsoft Teams login issues? Try these 7 steps
If you’re experiencing Microsoft Teams login issues on PC or Laptop, you can try some of the options given in this article to resolve the issue.

Run the Teams Sign-in diagnostic
You can run Teams Sign-in tests if you’re signed in with Microsoft 365 administrator account. (Please note: This feature isn’t available for Microsoft 365 Government, Microsoft 365 operated by 21Vianet, or Microsoft 365 Germany.)
This feature requires a Microsoft 365 administrator account.

- Enter the email address of the user having sign-in issues. (See diagram below)

Use SaRA (Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant)

- When SaRA is running click on Teams tab to run the Teams Sign-in Tests. (See picture below).

Fix the issue manually
- If the Teams Sign-in diagnostics detects an issue that may be affecting MS teams, just do what is suggested to sort out the issue.
- If, however no issue is detected then check if the Teams Desktop App is up-to date. (Teams Web Client is always up to date)
- Click the Settings and more menu next to the user’s profile picture at the top right of the Teams window, and then click Check for updates.
- If you find that the Teams Desktop App is missing the latest updates, install them and try signing in again.
- If the issue persists, then uninstall MS Teams with a view to re-installing it afterwards.

Microsoft Teams not logging in Windows 10
If you’re experiencing Microsoft Teams not logging or signing in Windows 10 / 11 try clearing your Microsoft Teams cache. Be aware that deleting MS Teams cache does not affect user data. You also need to restart Teams afterwards.
Follow the process described below to clear MS Teams cache
- If your Teams client is running then right-click Teams icon in the taskbar and select Quit.
- Type “%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams” in the search field and press Enter on keyboard
- Select ALL files and folders in the window that opens from step 2 by pressing “Ctrl + A“
- Press the ” Delete” key to delete all the files and folders selected.
- Restart MS Teams client on your PC.

What is modern authentication?

Modern authentication is an umbrella term for a combination of authentication and authorization methods that include: (1) Authentication methods: Multi-factor Authentication; Client Certificate-based authentication. (2) Authorization methods: Microsoft’s implementation of Open Authorization (OAuth).
If you receive a message saying “Either your password changed or the server needs your sign-in info again” after changing your password, then do the following.
- Restart the computer to supply a new modern authentication token and try to sign in again.
- If you still can’t sign in, sign out, and then sign in again using the old (or incorrect) credentials. After it fails, enter in your correct credentials.
Microsoft Teams not working
If Microsoft Teams is not working on Windows 10 / 11 on your PC (Laptop or Desktop PC) where you have the Teams desktop app installed, there are things you can try to do to resolve the problem.
- Check that your Internet connection is working.
- Delete Microsoft Teams Cache

You also need to restart your Teams app afterwards.
